Service Opportunities

2017 Service Opportunities Include:

A. Men's Shelter Volunteering: Below is a request for help from the Men’s Shelter.  If your schedule will allow, your help would be appreciated.  Please contact Lou Delfino (details below)  if you can assist.

Lou received a note from the shelter this morning asking for overnight volunteers for the dated listed below. Meals are covered, they just need overnight help. These dates are difficult for them to fill for obvious reasons so Lou is reaching out to you guys for help in spreading the word if you cannot volunteer yourselves. This is a great ministry and Lou knows there have to be some men out there in our parish that would be able to help one of these nights, we just need to help find them!

  • Finally, please consider bringing shelf stable food for our Saint Vincent de Paul food pantry.  We'll be collecting items to serve those less fortunate.

  • Greeters needed for the start of mass: We are still looking for smiling faces to assist in our Pastoral Plan focus of becoming a more Welcoming Parish-  Inside Greeters arrive at their normal Mass 20 minutes early and welcome fellow parishioners as they arrive at Saint Brigid- Donna Ortiz ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. • Outside Greeters: contact Jerry Bush This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or Bill Stuhltrager This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to be added to the list of 'facility guardians'.

St. Brigid is in the process of establishing a Security Program during the weekend Mass schedule. To make the program successful we need the Knights of Columbus and the Men of St. Brigid (we are all MOSB) to step up and sign up to be part of the team. The more men willing to participate will enable us to limit the number of times you would be asked to cover a Mass over the course of the year.

The idea is that 2 man teams will be visible in the parking lot prior to, during and just after Mass. You would be scheduled for one Mass only on a weekend. Scheduling would occur through Sign-up Genius so you control your availability. The goal is to monitor the lot for anything that looks out of place. Training will be provided in the next few weeks to go over exactly what we will be responsible for. CPR training will also be covered.

A sample schedule is shown below so you have an idea of the time commitment involved. It is not final but should give you an idea of what time frames would be involved. Please prayerfully consider being a part of this critical program.

  • Covecrest: Covecrest is a LifeTeen focused retreat center serving parishes from all over the Southeast.  Every year Lou Delfino leads a team of men to help out with some manual projects around the retreat center.
